FY 2003 Drug-Free Communities Support Program Application for Continuation Funding

During this continuation, the studies needed to prepare the linear array assay for transfer to forensic laboratories will be completed. The grantee will complete a series of studies (such as stability studies of the various components used in the assay) that are necessary to ensure that the product will perform satisfactorily when transferred to the forensic community. Information from these studies will be used to complete a training troubleshooting manual and for providing technical support to the users of the product. Additional tasks that will be completed during this continuation include a population database for use in determining the frequency of and mtDNA type, and a series of inter-laboratory collaborative studies. These collaborative studies are being conducted to evaluate the performance of the linear arrays in practitioner laboratories, and will further identify any issues to be addressed and resolved as part of technology transfer.
