PROJECT SUMMARY FOR 95-JS-FX-0021(S-4)
The goal of the project is to refine and replicate the Communities in Schools (CIS) in-school alternative school program models aimed at reducing school dropout rates and school-related violence by mobilizing and coordinating public and private sector resources within a given community and focusing the communities' efforts and resources on the schoolhouse. To accomplish this mission, CIS, Inc. provides training, technical assistance and selected resources, including technology connectivity and public awareness, to enhance CIS' ability to build economic opportunity for CIS students and families, healthy families and communities, and healthy public-private partnerships throughout the CIS network. As part of its training and technical assistance, CIS seeks to strengthen the families of its CIS students through the Families and Schools Together Program which is to be implemented in selected sites.
