The population to be served is mainly in the Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. areas. Funding will support two forensic examiner positions at the Virginia State Police (VSP). In addition, VSP will provide funds for training for the task force and affiliate agencies, attendance at ICAC Commander's Meetings, software renewals, and cellular telephone data plans. More specifically, the Task Force will work to: increase the number of both proactive and reactive investigations; increase the number of forensic examinations; increase the number of referrals received from other ICAC Task Forces and federal partners; increase the capabilities of the NOVA-DC ICAC Task Force agencies in the investigation of technology-facilitated crimes against children; enhance the NOVA-DC ICAC Task Force's effectiveness in preventing these types of offenses; and formalize law enforcement partnerships through written agreements.
