Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $461,351)

The Utah Attorney General’s Office, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is a statewide multi-jurisdictional, multi-agency task force that investigates, prevents, and prosecutes technology-facilitated child exploitation. The entire population (3,454,230 in 2024) of the State of Utah will be served. This grant application addresses the needs for the Utah ICAC Task Force to continue to protect children from internet predators and criminals who exploit children through possession, manufacture, and/or distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The ability to train law enforcement agents and prosecutors will strengthen and expand multi-jurisdictional responses and affiliate relationships. More Specifically, the Task Force will work to: increase the number of both proactive and reactive investigations; increase the number of forensic examinations; increase the number of referrals received from other ICAC Task Forces and federal partners; increase the capabilities of the Utah ICAC Task Force agencies in the investigation of technology-facilitated crimes against children; enhance the Utah ICAC Task Force’s effectiveness in preventing these types of offenses; and formalize law enforcement partnerships through written agreements. The Utah ICAC Task Force monthly statistics will be submitted via the OJJDP ICAC Portal. Affiliate updates will be submitted annually through the ICAC Task Force.org website.
