Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $1,000,000)
The Noble Network for Charter Schools will implement the Support to Elevated At-Risk Students (SEARS) project. The goal is to improve school safety and climate across the network’s 17 campuses in Chicago. Students in Tiers 2, 3, and 4 in the Multi-Tiered System of Supports are the intended beneficiaries of the project. Activities fall into four categories. First, the SEARS project will fund staff and professional development necessary to refine the network’s strategy for identifying and supporting students whose lives are at risk. Second, subrecipients will provide substance abuse counseling and mentoring programs on targeted campuses. Third, relationships with families will be strengthened by providing more opportunities to discuss community issues and provide input on wrap-around service providers. Fourth, the project will support rigorous data collection about community organizations operating across Noble campuses. Expected outcomes include a multidisciplinary, multi-agency working group to oversee and advise project implementation; targeted, evidence-based support for Tier 4 students; students moving out of Tiers 2, 3, and 4; increased family participation in Parent and Family Advisory Councils; and a dashboard to test the effectiveness of community-based organizations working on Noble campuses.
