The Innocent Justice Foundation (TIJF) created the Supporting Heroes In Mental Health Foundational Training (SHIFT) program to offer training to Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force members and other criminal justice professionals exposed to child sexual exploitation material to mitigate trauma and negative effects of chronic exposure. To accomplish this, SHIFT will provide several modalities of training and technical assistance. Training options include (i) virtual and in-person interactive psycho-educational programs for individuals, teams, and supervisory training for ICAC task force members and other individuals; (ii) training for judges and court personnel; (iii) specialized Mental Health Professional and Law Enforcement leadership outreach, education, and mentoring; (iv) a Family/Support curriculum; and (v) customized wellness program implementation training for ICAC units, including ICAC team Peer Support Training and supplemental wellness topics. TIJF collaborates with ICAC and subject matter experts to develop new curriculum with the goal of expanding wellness support resources through foundational and advanced psycho-educational trainings for exposed individuals and allied professionals. TIJF’s experience working directly with ICAC taskforce teams and affiliated agencies strengthens its understanding of ICAC needs. The expertise of their multidisciplinary partners ensures a solid foundation to meet the mental health and wellness needs of exposed justice professionals nationally.
