So often, forensic laboratories are fundamentally disconnected from investigators and prosecutors without little understanding of what happens as an item of evidence is submitted to a lab and is eventually transforms into a result in a laboratory report.
This session will specifically examine both the layout and basic workflow of a forensic biology laboratory as evidence ultimately progresses from submission to the reported information used in court.
By understanding the basics of lab design, workflow, and the rigor that goes into forensic biology laboratory validation, multidisciplinary team members will have a better appreciation of the processes and quality therein as it applies to fully examining items of evidence for use in a court of law.
