National Subgrants Program for Victims of Child Pornography
The National Children's Alliance (NCA) is the not-for-profit membership organization and accrediting body for the nation's Children's Advocacy Centers (CACs). A Children's Advocacy Center is a child-friendly facility where law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental health, medical, and victim advocacy professionals work together to investigate abuse, help children heal from abuse, and hold offenders accountable. NCA was first federally funded in 1993 to develop and expand Children's Advocacy Centers nationwide through a national subgrants program.
The populations served through this program are victims of child pornography/sexual abuse images and domestic minors who are victims of trafficking and their families. Last year our national network of CACs served more than 380,000 child victims of abuse, including victims of child pornography, provided abuse prevention training to more than 1.6 million children and adults, and provided training and technical assistance to more than 68,000 multidisciplinary team members working for, or closely with CACs.
Through this program, NCA will increase the number of CAC programs serving child/youth victims of sex trafficking and child pornography, with an emphasis on those involved in federal cases through our memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the FBI. In addition, NCA will elevate the quality of services in existing CACs through subgrants and technical assistance related to:
Properly identifying and screening this victim population.
Conducting forensic interviews with this population.
Providing intensive case management and treatment with this victim population.
NCA will ensure an appropriate solicitation, grant review, and sub-award oversight monitoring process.
