OJJDP has released the "Delinquency Cases in Juvenile Court, 2019" fact sheet showing statistics on delinquency cases handled in U.S. juvenile courts from 2005 to 2019.
During that period, the number of delinquency cases involving juveniles declined 56 percent. Decreases were experienced across four offense categories: property, public order, person, and drug law violation cases. These estimates are based on data from more than 2,500 courts with jurisdiction over 87 percent of the nation’s juvenile population in 2019.
This fact sheet is derived from the OJJDP-sponsored report "Juvenile Court Statistics 2019" and was developed with support from the National Institute of Justice.
