OJJDP Observes National Youth Justice Action Month

President Biden proclaimed October as National Youth Justice Action Month (YJAM), an annual observance to raise awareness and inspire action on behalf of young people impacted by the justice system.

“This month, I stand with youth justice advocates in urging States and communities across the country to do more to help every child realize their full promise.” – President Biden

OJJDP, in partnership with the Coalition for Juvenile Justice (CJJ) and the National Juvenile Justice Network (NJJN), will host #YJAM2022. This year’s YJAM theme is “Justice Is____.”

This theme highlights the opportunity for system-involved youth, their families, and youth justice stakeholders to imagine new possibilities for systems of support, equity, healing, and restorative justice.

OJJDP encourages stakeholders to support justice system-involved youth by participating in virtual and in-person YJAM events throughout October.

On October 3, 2022, OJJDP will kick-off #YJAM2022 with a webinar, "Youth Justice Action Month: Creating Brighter Futures for Our Nation’s Youth," featuring OJJDP’s Administrator Liz Ryan. Join us!
