The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) announces the availability of OJJDP News @ a Glance, August 2024. This month's feature stories highlight the critical role youth played during the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s, and an OJJDP-supported program that relies on a youth-family-school-neighborhood partnership to reduce community violence. "From the Administrator's Desk" features a Newsweek opinion column by Administrator Liz Ryan on the need for practitioners to adopt evidence-based approaches rooted in the science of adolescent development. "Youth Voices" focuses on the path a North Carolina youth took from secure detention to a promising career in academia. "Tribal Connections" highlights the first graduate of the Tule River Tribe of California’s Juvenile Healing and Wellness Center program.
