President Biden proclaimed June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex (LGBTQI+) Pride Month. The Administration pledges to champion equal rights and protections for LGBTQI+ individuals of all ages.
“This month, we recommit to realizing the promise of America for all Americans, to celebrating courageous LGBTQI+ people, and to taking pride in the example they set for our Nation and the world."
—President Biden
OJJDP is committed to supporting LGBTQI+ youth across all its funded programs. OJJDP recently launched the Pride Justice Resource Center. The center offers training and technical assistance to juvenile justice practitioners to enhance their capacity, knowledge, and skills to improve outcomes for LGBTQI+ and Two-Spirt youth involved in the juvenile justice system. OJJDP has also developed a framework to guide its approach to serving LGBTQI+ and Two-Spirit youth, including guidelines for their treatment in the juvenile justice system.
