In a new blog post, OJJDP Administrator Liz Ryan discusses U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) programs to help youth and families facing food insecurity as a result of the end of COVID-19 benefits on May 11.
In late April, OJJDP released a letter to its grantees describing the USDA's available resources to address hunger and food insecurity. The USDA programs include its Summer Food Service Program, Child and Adult Care Food Program, and National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
"Our young people navigate myriad hurdles every day," Ryan writes. "Hunger should not be one of them."
