The Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs (OJP) announced awards of nearly $444 million to support a wide range of violence reduction efforts, including community-based violence intervention and prevention strategies, youth and school violence prevention programs, and school safety research.
Of these awards, OJJDP funding includes:
- Nearly $15 million under the Comprehensive Youth Violence Prevention and Reduction Program to address youth violence, including gang violence.
- $7 million under the Strategies to Support Children Exposed to Violence program to provide services for children exposed to violence and implement community violence intervention strategies.
- More than $900,000 to continue operating the National Gang Center, which provides information, resources, and training and technical assistance on anti-gang initiatives.
