The National Center for Mental Health and Juvenile Justice, in partnership with the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, has released the OJJDP-funded “Engage, Involve, Empower: Family Engagement in Juvenile Drug Treatment Courts.” This technical assistance brief, which is based on the results of a nationwide survey of juvenile drug treatment courts, juvenile mental health courts, and hybrid juvenile treatment courts, provides recommendations for successful family engagement within a juvenile drug treatment court program. The brief also includes a self-assessment tool to assess a court’s current practices and highlights two juvenile drug treatment courts demonstrating a strong commitment to family engagement.
