On April 7, 2021, the Biden-Harris Administration announced investments in community violence intervention (CVI) strategies to reduce gun violence. The announcement details changes to existing federal funding by five federal agencies, including the Department of Justice (DOJ), to direct support to CVI programs.
As part of DOJ's efforts, OJJDP will give priority to applicants proposing CVI strategies under two competitive fiscal year 2021 grant programs: OJJDP's Comprehensive Youth Violence Prevention and Reduction Program ($11 million) and Strategies to Support Children Exposed to Violence ($7 million).
Also, OJJDP's National Gang Center will expand its outreach to communities about evidence-based violence prevention and intervention strategies, including OJJDP's Comprehensive Gang Model.
