Administrator Ryan Highlights "Youth Hate Crimes and Identity-Based Bullying Prevention Curriculum"
In this video OJJDP Administrator Liz Ryan highlights the benefits of OJJDP's "Youth Hate Crimes and Identity-Based Bullying Prevention Curriculum." This new multi-phase interactive curriculum was designed to keep children safe in schools and communities. Administrator Ryan shares that the curriculum aims to change the attitudes and behaviors of youth involved in bias prejudice, hate crimes, and bullying, while also educating adults, teachers, and counselors. It motivates middle and high school students to become advocates for respect and compassion by providing lessons, activities, and resources to support one another.
This tool is essential for preventing and reducing violence and bullying, helping youth recognize and change unconscious biases, and fostering more compassionate and respectful communities. The Curriculum is part of OJJDP's Preventing Youth Hate Crimes and Identity-based Bullying Prevention Initiative, learn more at https://ojjdp.ojp.gov/programs/preventing-youth-hate-crimes-bullying-initiative.
