Challenges in Firearms and Shooting Cases: Prosecuting Cases Involving Ghost Guns
This webinar was presented by Robert Kline, Assistant State's Attorney from the Cook County State's Attorney's Office (Illinois) on behalf of the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA) on October 5, 2023. In his presentation, Mr. Kline discussed how to recognize ghost gun evidence in a police report or evidence sheet, assess a case for charging, and present gun evidence in court. He presented specific strategies for evaluating cases, educating jurors about firearms, and presenting firearm evidence safely in court. He also provided information on state and federal ghost guns legislation and federal court decisions considering the constitutionality of ghost gun legislation.
