Abstract

The OJJDP's Juvenile Offenders and Victims: 2006 National Report presents a comprehensive account of juvenile offending, the victimization of juveniles, and the justice system's response to these problems. Information is provided on some questions the National Report answers and some facts it presents. Recent OJJDP-sponsored conferences briefly described are Teaching Youth About the Law: National Training Institute (March 13-15, 2006) and the 33rd National Conference on Juvenile Justice (March 26, 2006). Through cooperative agreements with OJJDP and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Fox Valley Technical College offered a number of regional training programs in 2006. The 10 programs are briefly described. A report was presented on the Nation's first National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Week (February 6-10, 2006). As part of the activities of this week, the American Bar Association developed an educational toolkit on teen dating violence and prevention; 1,000 of these kits have been distributed to schools across the Nation. News is provided on OJJDP's funding activities, the activities of the Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, and the activities of the Federal Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice.
