Building Trauma Informed Police Responses in Your Agency Training and Tools Webinar

OJJDP, in collaboration with the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), presents “Building Trauma-Informed Police Responses in Your Agency: Training and Tools.” This webinar provides an overview of trauma-informed policing for officers, law enforcement agencies, and communities. Presenters describe the phenomenon of trauma, share data about traumatic exposure, and introduce online training and tools developed by IACP and Yale with support from OJJDP to help agencies build trauma-informed responses.

OJJDP, in collaboration with the Age of Criminal Responsibility Research Training and Technical Assistance Center, presented “The Changing Landscape of Age of Criminal Responsibility Policies in the U.S. and the Steps States Are Taking To Prepare for and Implement Policy Changes.” In this one-hour webinar, participants heard from stakeholders in states that have recently raised the age of juvenile court jurisdiction.

The Model Programs Guide (MPG) Diversion Programs Implementation Guide Webinar

OJJDP, in collaboration with Development Services Group, Inc., will present "The Model Programs Guide Diversion Programs Implementation Guide." This webinar will provide an overview of the resources available on OJJDP's Model Programs Guide (MPG), including program profiles, literature reviews, and Implementation Guides (I-Guides). Presenters will focus on the research that informed the development of the I-Guides, including the new Diversion Programs I-Guide. The webinar will also feature discussion from a practitioner who is currently using the Diversion Programs I-Guide.

Runaway Youth Prevention Webinar

Presenters discuss strategies and best practices to prevent runaway youth and examine how research on runaway youth can be applied in various settings.

OJJDP, in collaboration with the Police Foundation, presented “Strategies for the Prevention, Response, and Recovery from Acts of Violence in Schools” discussing ongoing efforts to prevent, respond to, and recover from school violence. Presenters explored lessons learned, best practices, and the role of school resource officers in school violence prevention.

Mentoring Children and Youth Affected by Opioid Misuse and Substance Abuse Webinar

OJJDP, in collaboration with the National Mentoring Resource Center, presented “Mentoring Children and Youth Affected by Opioid Misuse and Substance Abuse.” This webinar focused on the role mentoring plays in supporting youth impacted by opioid and substance abuse. Presenters discussed the effects of opioid and substance abuse on families and communities, how mentoring programs are addressing this growing issue, and how mentoring can support other strategies and best practices.

Family Drug Courts Serving Pregnant Women with Opioid Use Disorders and their Infants Webinar

OJJDP, in collaboration with Children and Family Futures, presents "Planning for Safe Care — What Your Family Drug Court Needs To Know About Serving Pregnant Women With Opioid Use Disorders and Their Infants." The webinar features a facilitated discussion between a nationally recognized family drug court judge and a women's health care and addiction medicine expert who will share their experiences and knowledge on best practices in the treatment of opioid use disorders.

Financial Literacy for Teens Webinar

OJJDP, in collaboration with the Federal Trade Commission, presented “Financial Literacy for Teens.” This webinar focused on teen financial independence. The webinar examined the importance of a credit report and discusses how to order, review, and correct them. Presenters also discuss free resources to help teens prepare to get credit and avoid pitfalls when applying for student loans, buying a car, renting an apartment, or making other financial decisions. Identity theft is a concern to foster youth and will be covered in this webinar.

Building Resiliency: The Importance of Privacy and Confidentiality in Wellness Programs Webinar

April 2019

OJJDP, in collaboration with The Innocent Justice Foundation, presents "Building Resiliency: The Importance of Privacy and Confidentiality in Wellness Programs." This webinar was designed to help professionals who address commercial sexual exploitation of children develop wellness practices to promote resilience and reduce or eliminate the negative effects of exposure to trauma and stress in their work.

OJJDP and the Children's Bureau partnered on a proactive prevention approach to support families and safeguard children. This video features Jerry Milner, Associate Commissioner of the Children's Bureau, and Caren Harp, Administrator of OJJDP, as they recognize National Child Abuse Prevention Month and discuss how communities can come together to raise awareness about healthy parenting practices, child safety skills, available resources, and community partnerships.
