The OJJDP FY 2020 Opioid Affected Youth Initiative (OAYI) will support the efforts of states, communities, tribal jurisdictions, nonprofit organizations, for-profit organizations and institutions of higher education to implement programs and strategies that identify, respond to, treat, and support children, youth, and families impacted by the opioid epidemic.
Prevention Links will develop a public health framework to provide programs and services to youth and families impacted by opioid addiction in the central-eastern New Jersey region, encompassing Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, and Union Counties. Proposed project goals include (1) increase availability of youth-focused, developmentally appropriate, culturally competent substance use disorder recovery support services; (2) increase availability of targeted prevention and intervention programs for children whose parent/caretaker has experienced an opioid use disorder; and (3) enhance system capacity in this region for early identification and treatment of substance use disorders in youth.
