Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $690,554)
The OJJDP FY 2020 Opioid Affected Youth Initiative (OAYI) will support the efforts of states, communities, tribal jurisdictions, nonprofit organizations, for-profit organizations and institutions of higher education to implement programs and strategies that identify, respond to, treat, and support children, youth, and families impacted by the opioid epidemic.
This project will support community-based partnerships to implement school-based practices for opioid-affected youth who live in the rural area of Duchesne County, as well as the urban youth who live in Utah County. In collaboration with local treatment centers, county agencies, community organizations, and schools, Utah 4-H Mentoring will identify youth who are at risk of drug and opioid abuse and other high-risk behaviors who will benefit from a positive experience with the Utah 4-H Mentoring program.
