Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $460,712)

The Bridging Child Advocacy Center Services in Northern Arizona project will be funded to further the development and implementation of the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) model in Northern Arizona. This program is authorized pursuant to the Victims of Child Abuse Act of 1990, 34 U.S.C. § 20304(a) and (b) and the Department of Justice Appropriations Act, 2019, P.L. No. 116-6, 133 Stat. 13, 113, 115.

Childhelp and cross-sector community partners in Northern Arizona will engage in an 18-month collaborative planning, development and program implementation effort to increase the capacity and expertise available in Northern Arizona for the provision of trauma-informed crisis response to child victims of abuse and neglect and their non-offending adult caregivers. The project will address a sudden gap in CAC services in a high need large underserved area in Northern Arizona including, but not limited to, the Navajo Nation, other Northern Arizona tribes, and Native American communities, to provide forensic investigation, multidisciplinary team coordination, and intervention services for victims of child abuse and their families.
