The Formula Grants Program is authorized under the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act. The purpose of this program is to support state and local delinquency prevention and intervention efforts and juvenile justice system improvements. Supported activities and efforts may include planning and administration, establishing, operating, coordinating, and evaluating projects directly or through grants and contracts with public and private agencies for the development of more effective education, training, research, prevention, diversion, treatment, and rehabilitation programs in the area of juvenile delinquency and programs to improve the juvenile justice system as found in section 221 of the JJDP Act. Pennsylvanias FY 20 Title II Formula Grant Funds will support projects related to Compliance Monitoring (DMC and secure holding procedures), Prevention, Diversion, System Improvement, and Aftercare. PCCD supports activities dedicated to monitoring compliance with the core protections of the JJDP Act, supports programs for local DMC assessment efforts to reduce disproportionate minority contact, and prevent formal system involvement.
