The Formula Grants Program is authorized under the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act. The purpose of this program is to support state and local delinquency prevention and intervention efforts and juvenile justice system improvements. Supported activities and efforts may include planning and administration, establishing, operating, coordinating, and evaluating projects directly or through grants and contracts with public and private agencies for the development of more effective education, training, research, prevention, diversion, treatment, and rehabilitation programs in the area of juvenile delinquency and programs to improve the juvenile justice system as found in section 221 of the JJDP Act. North Dakotas Title II Formula Funds will be used to maintain the states compliance with the JJDP Act. The North Dakota Department of Corrections Division of Juvenile Services will support the continued operation of the Attendant Care Program, which provides non-secure supervision as an alternative to secure detention and compliance to address the disproportionate contact of minority youth within the system.
