Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $1,549,334)

The Formula Grants Program is authorized under the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) Act. The purpose of this program is to support state and local delinquency prevention and intervention efforts and juvenile justice system improvements. Supported activities and efforts may include planning and administration, establishing, operating, coordinating, and evaluating projects directly or through grants and contracts with public and private agencies for the development of more effective education, training, research, prevention, diversion, treatment, and rehabilitation programs in the area of juvenile delinquency and programs to improve the juvenile justice system as found in section 221 of the JJDP Act. The North Carolina Governor's Crime Commission provides resources for youth who are at-risk of becoming delinquent due to individual, school, family, peer, or community factors. North Carolina's FY 2020 Formula Grant award will provide services for youth who are delinquent or involved in all phases of the juvenile court process. NCA/NCF
