This program will promote and expand services in detention and correctional facilities to incarcerated individuals and their minor children younger than age 18, and provide services to children of incarcerated parents by facilitating access to services that support their needs. This program will provide states and localities with funding to implement positive family engagement strategies and activities that address the needs of incarcerated parents and their minor children.
The City of Bridgeports Bridgeport Families First Program will link multiple existing support structures for children and families with incarcerated loved ones and returning citizens with new or expanded interventions to create a fully realized support system for incarcerated parents and their minor children. This project will increase the efficiency of services provided to all clients. The expected result is a citywide systems overhaul that has effects far beyond the direct benefits to adult and child clients. The program is designed to address issues with a holistic, family-centered approach that addresses multiple barriers. CA/NCF
