Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $10,000)

This program furthers the Department's mission by providing grants and cooperative agreements for training and technical assistance to organizations that OJJDP designates.

The Ashanti Alert Act requires the Department of Justice (DOJ) to establish a national communications network to assist regional and local search efforts for certain missing adults. The population to be served includes but is not limited to families; law enforcement, court systems, social services, and multidisciplinary professionals; prosecutors; nonprofit community agencies; and lawmakers. This award of $10,000 is made through an Interagency Agreement between the Bureau of Justice Assistance and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention to support the activities of Fox Valley Technical College related to the Ashanti Alert Act. With this funding, Fox Valley Technical College will provide substantive (i.e., subject matter) and logistical support for a webinar on the Ashanti Alert Act. Specific training and technical assistance tasks include, but are not limited to: (1) develop a communications plan for the field to include agenda support and development of a save-the-date postcard, event invitation, and reminder notice; (2) registration support; (3) completion of a practice session the week prior to the webinar (to try and identify any technical issues ahead of time); (4) coordination of webinar presentations; (5) controlled discussion facilitation; (6) management of webinar polling questions; (7) technical assistance as needed; and (8) event follow-up activities, as may be appropriate, to include post event analytics.
