This program furthers the Department's mission by providing grants and cooperative agreements for training and technical assistance to organizations that OJJDP designates. The purpose of the project is to advance the understanding of how school and community-based program delivery approaches may reduce delinquent behavior, which in turn can reduce violence and offending among youth and promote positive outcomes for youth and their communities. Street Law will collaborate with an NIJ-selected independent evaluator to evaluate Street Laws existing Police & Teens and Legal Life Skills programs. Both programs are educational initiatives designed to advance civic responsibility, accountability, and build young peoples knowledge and understanding of the law, skills related to problem solving and community participation, and ability to access resources and community supports.
