Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $5,793,436)
OJJDP supports the efforts of states, tribes, and communities to develop and implement effective and equitable juvenile justice systems that enhance public safety; ensure youth are held appropriately accountable to both crime victims and communities; and empower youth to live productive, law-abiding lives. OJJDPs Coordinated Assistance to States Program (CCAS) provides coordinated resources and training and technical assistance (TTA) to assist in planning, operating, and assessing delinquency prevention, intervention, and juvenile justice systems improvement efforts.
The American Institutes for Research (AIR) in partnership with the Center for Juvenile Justice Reform, the Council of Juvenile Correctional Administrators, and a diverse cadre of subject matter experts (SMEs) will operate the Center for Coordinated Assistance to States (CCAS) to provide high-quality, proactive, coordinated, and responsive resources and training and technical assistance (RTTA). AIR has established a trusted relationship with OJJDP, its State Relations and Assistance Division, Designated State Agency professionals, and State Advisory Group members. AIR proposes to deliver timely and responsive RTTA to the field; infuse lived practitioner experience and the latest research into all products; serve as thought partners with OJJDP and localities; and use a strong team of vetted, approved, and OJJDP-trusted SMEs.
