The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

Consistent with 34 U.S.C. § 11293(b), the purpose of the National Resource Center and Clearinghouse (NRCC), operated by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) with these grant funds, is to help prevent child abduction and sexual exploitation; find missing children; and provide technical assistance/training to victims of child abduction and sexual exploitation, their families, and the professionals who serve them. The population served includes, but is not limited to, families; law enforcement; court system personnel; social services staff; childcare professionals; prosecutors; non-profit community agencies; and lawmakers. During the grant period, NCMEC will explore opportunities to employ wounded, ill or injured veterans to support law enforcement’s investigation of child exploitation and is committed to using $200,000 of awarded funds to hire qualified veteran candidates to achieve this goal. In addition, during this grant period, NCMEC will also support the development of tools and technologies to improve the efficiencies related to the investigations and managing of leads that are submitted to the CyberTipline. Proposed approaches may include, but are not limited to, incorporating artificial intelligence or other technologies that will assist the ICAC task forces, their affiliate agencies and the broader law enforcement community in efficiently receiving, processing, analyzing, and investigating CyberTips generated by NCMEC.
