This program will promote and expand services in detention and correctional facilities to incarcerated individuals and their minor children younger than age 18, and provide services to children of incarcerated parents by facilitating access to services that support their needs. This program will provide states and localities with funding to implement positive family engagement strategies and activities that address the needs of incarcerated parents and their minor children.
The County of Rutherford will use funding to provide services to facilitate and maintain parent-child attachment and relationships during the parents incarceration. The project will target incarcerated parents at the Rutherford County Correctional Work Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The project will involve supportive services to maintain parent-child relationships, strengthen attachment, and mitigate the effects of adverse childhood experiences among children of incarcerated parents and strengthen the parent-child bond while developing healthy coping skills and resilience.
