The Drug Treatment Courts Program builds the capacity of states, state and local courts, units of local government, and federally recognized tribal governments to enhance pre-existing drug courts or implement new drug courts for individuals with substance abuse problems or co-occurring mental health disorders. Category 1: Juvenile Drug Treatment Courts (JDTCs) will support existing JDTCs to develop and implement strategies to enhance their programs based on the OJJDP JDTC Guidelines.

The Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department and the Bexar County Juvenile Board will use funding for the planning and implementation activities to align its program with the OJJDP JDTC Guidelines. The goals of the program will be to implement a risk assessment tool to determine program eligibility; enhance existing treatment services; and provide youth and families with individualized, evidence-based contingency case management and intervention services. The proposed activities will strengthen efforts to address criminogenic needs, reduce substance use, and be responsive to children presenting with co-occurring disorders. CA/NCF
