The Drug Treatment Courts Program builds the capacity of states, state and local courts, units of local government, and federally recognized tribal governments to enhance pre-existing drug courts or implement new drug courts for individuals with substance abuse problems or co-occurring mental health disorders. Category 2: Family Drug Courts Enhancement will support jurisdictions with a fully operational (for at least 1 year) family drug court to enhance the operation of the court.

The Jefferson County Family Integrated Treatment Court has identified the following goals and expected outcomes to enhance their program: increase the number of evidence-based services and reduce recidivism; address the increasing opioid crisis in the community; and support parent-child relationships to reunify families in a healthy, safe and timely manner. The applicant proposes to meet these goals by: extending the role of the Public Health Nurse, which would increase coordination with medication assisted treatment providers; training in Celebrating Families!, an evidence-based parenting curriculum with a focus on substance use disorders; implementing the Celebrating Families! Curriculum with fidelity; and increasing support to families by increasing the number of Peer Supports. CA/NCF
