Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $889,217)

The Drug Treatment Courts Program builds the capacity of states, state and local courts, units of local government, and federally recognized tribal governments to enhance pre-existing drug courts or implement new drug courts for individuals with substance abuse problems or co-occurring mental health disorders. Category 2: Family Drug Courts Enhancement will support jurisdictions with a fully operational (for at least 1 year) family drug court to enhance the operation of the court.

The San Francisco Superior Court, Family Treatment Court (FTC) program enhancement project goals include: (1) providing evidence-based Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) to families with children 0-5 years old in the FTC program; (2) improving family functioning and children’s developmental outcomes; (3) increasing reunification and decreasing re-entry into foster care; and, (4) eliminating racial disparities in child welfare outcomes. The San Francisco Superior Court will contract with the Infant-Parent Program at the University of Californiato provide CPP to FTC-participating families. CA/NCF
