Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $874,097)

The Drug Treatment Courts Program builds the capacity of states, state and local courts, units of local government, and federally recognized tribal governments to enhance pre-existing drug courts or implement new drug courts for individuals with substance abuse problems or co-occurring mental health disorders. Category 2: Family Drug Courts Enhancement will support jurisdictions with a fully operational (for at least 1 year) family drug court to enhance the operation of the court.

Eighth Judicial District Court goal is to enhance services for families by adding inpatient/residential and intensive outpatient with housing services for families entering their WestCare-Nevada through the Family Drug Treatment Court. Specific goals for families are: (1) reunifying families; (2) increasing parent treatment engagement and retention; (3) decreasing substance use; and, (4) improving family functioning. CA/NCF
