Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $1,756,213)
This program furthers the Departments mission by improving the juvenile justice and dependency systems response to child abuse, neglect, commercial sexual exploitation, and sex trafficking of minors and related cases.
The National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ) and its partners will facilitate system improvements in juvenile and family court processes to provide better outcomes for children, youth, and families in child abuse, neglect, and related cases, including cases of children who are victims of commercial sexual exploitation and sex trafficking.
The NCJFCJ will accomplish this by: increasing the expertise of the judiciary and court professionals, implementing evidence-based practices, and improving court professional and stakeholder collaboration by building on the successful work of the Model Courts and Implementation Sites; providing for increased coordination of information and services modeled after the judicial-led collaborative teams in the demonstration sites; and guiding system administrative reforms in these cases. The NCJFCJ will also work with courts to better coordinate cases involving the same children and families in child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, divorce cases, and other related cases.
