This program furthers the Departments mission by building state and local capacity to collect and use valid and reliable data to inform strategic decisionmaking, monitor progress of juvenile reentry programs and services designed to reduce reoffending, and ensure that agencies and providers are operating in an effective and cost-efficient manner.
The Improving Juvenile Reentry Programs Data Collection, Analysis, and Reporting project will build state and local capacity to collect and use valid and reliable data to inform strategic decisionmaking, monitor progress of juvenile reentry programs and services, and ensure they meet targeted outcomes for reducing recidivism. The team of PbS Learning Institute and the National Center for Juvenile Justice will provide training, technical assistance, documents, reports, and tools for state and local agencies, particularly Second Chance Act grantees, to enhance their ability to collect, analyze, and report reentry data. The project will begin implementation of recommendations from OJJDPs prior data improvement projectsthe Initiative To Develop Juvenile Reentry Measurement Standards and the Juvenile Justice Model Data Project. The project team has established partnerships with the Council of State Governments, American Institutes for Research, American Probation and Parole Association, Coalition for Juvenile Justice, and Council of Juvenile Correctional Administrators to maximize the project reach and impact and to ensure coordination with related efforts.
