Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2016, $470,940)

The Formula Grants Program is authorized under the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act and funds are made available as a result of the FY 2016 Department of Justice appropriations. The purpose of this program is to support state and local delinquency prevention and intervention efforts and juvenile justice system improvements. Program areas may include: planning and administration; state advisory group allocation; compliance monitoring; prevention; and activities to address the core requirements and improvement of juvenile justice system operations and policies, as found in section 223(a)(9) of the JJDP Act.

Oregon’s 2016 Title II Formula Grants Plan Update is administered by the Youth Development Council (YDC) within the Oregon Department of Education. The YDC, in conjunction with the Oregon’s State Advisory Group (SAG), will continue to support the following Title II Plan priorities: improving school engagement and academic achievement; improving service delivery and multi-systems coordination; promoting a developmental approach to juvenile justice; and reducing system disparities and ensuring equity. The YDC and SAG will address these priorities through activities in the following Title II Program areas: (17) School Programs; (22) Diversion; (21) DMC; and (19) Compliance Monitoring.
