Note:
This awardee has received supplemental funding. This award detail page includes information about both the original award and supplemental awards.
The Youth with Sexual Behavior Problems (YSBP) program assists communities in developing a multi-disciplinary, comprehensive approach to responding to youth with sexual behavior problems their child victims and their families. YSBP program funding supports evidence-based treatment and community supervision to prevent re-offending. Funding also supports treatment and family support services to address trauma and support healing for child victims and their families. The YSBP program consists of project sites that develop and implement a community based intervention model and a training and technical assistance provider that supports the project sites.
The Rosebud Sioux Tribe was selected as the tribal project site under this solicitation and received funding to implement their project in two phases over a 36-month period. During Phase I, the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, the training and technical assistance provider and project partners were to assess the Tribe's current interventions and practices related to youth with sexual behavior problems and develop a comprehensive and culturally relevant intervention model for these youth, their child victims, and their families. Assessment and planning would include identification and adaption of a treatment curriculum that includes best practices and accounts for the unique characteristics, traditional practices, and culture of the Tribe. During Phase II, the Rosebud Sioux Tribe will leverage current partnerships and work with other agencies to identify and support families of youth through a multi-disciplinary approach; provide training and technical assistance to first responders on the newly developed system and protocols developed by the multi-disciplinary team; and implement a public awareness campaign to increase knowledge among members of the community related to child sexual abuse.
