Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2014, $119,107)

The purpose of the FY 2014 Youth with Sexual Behavior Problems (YSBP) Program is to assist communities in developing a multi-disciplinary, comprehensive approach to providing treatment services and community supervision for youth with sexual behavior problems (SBP). Projects funded under this program will focus on developing an intervention model that addresses interfamilial and/or co-residential sexual misconduct by youth ages 10 to 14, and provide adjunctive support services to child victims and families of these youth. The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center will serve as the training and technical assistance provider.

The Rosebud Sioux Tribe will implement this project in two phases over a 36-month period. It will work closely with OJJDP's existing training and technical assistance provider during both phases of the project. The first 12 months of the project (Phase 1) will be a dedicated planning year during which the grantee and the training and technical assistance provider will assess the tribe's current interventions and practices for youth with SBP and develop a comprehensive and culturally relevant intervention model for these youth, their child victims, and their families. Over the remaining 24 months (Phase 2), it is anticipated that based on performance, the grantee will implement the program created during the planning year. This program will include a culturally appropriate mental health program and a public awareness and outreach campaign. CA/NCF
