WV OJJDP PREA Reallocation Funds

Congress passed the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) in 2003 with unanimous support from both parties. Congress intended that PREA would provide for the analysis of the incidence and effects of prison rape in Federal, State, and local institutions and to provide information, resources, recommendations, and funding to protect individuals from prison rape.
With the support of grant funds through the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, administered by the West Virginia Division of Justice and Community Services, the Prison Elimination Act Reallocation Funds will be used to support the West Virginia Division of Juvenile Services in developing and implementing staff and resident training and education in regard to PREA standards and policy.
