The Tribal Youth Program Training and Technical Assistance Center (TYTTAC) project will continue to address the need to strengthen American Indian and Alaska Native juvenile justice and other systems' education, mental health and social services, and substance abuse, recreation, employment, and cultural programs critical to OJJDP's mission of reducing juvenile delinquency, violence, child victimization, and increasing the safety of tribal communities.
TYTTAC's objectives are to 1) provide capacity and infrastructure building TTA to support high-quality services; 2) support youth programming; 3) strengthen the evaluation capacity of tribal communities to improve performance monitoring and strategic planning; 4) develop communities of practice that build inter- and intra-tribal capacity; and 5) support knowledge development and collaboration among tribal communities and federal, state, and local stakeholders. These objectives will further the overarching goals of improving program policies and organizational operations, increasing the use of evidence-based programs/practices, thereby leading to increased protective factors, decreased risk factors for delinquency, fewer justice involved youth, with increased pathways to successful adulthood.
Building from these grantee relationships are a variety of TTA events: in-person conferences, webinars, site visits, peer learning talking circles, phone and email consultations, and piggybacking on events of other organizations.
