Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2013, $22,236,064)

Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) will build upon over 100 years of successful youth development programming and administration of more than 4,400 mentoring awards to Clubs nationwide to strengthen and expand mentoring programs for approximately 56,000 youth in four goal areas: support for mentoring in underserved communities, mentoring through TARGETED OUTREACH, support for minority male mentor recruitment; and mentoring military youth. Emphasis will be given to addressing the shortage of minority male mentors through targeted recruitment, training and support as well as delivering enhanced mentoring experiences to underserved, at-risk youth residing in distressed areas.

Mentoring programs will achieve specific performance goals and objectives, including improved academic, social and career outcomes as well as behavioral and personal development. Mentoring services will be initiated, expanded, and enhanced to address the pathways to delinquency. Performance measures data will be collected and reported utilizing BGCA's comprehensive online performance measures reporting system. CA/NCF
