Note:

The Formula Grants Program is authorized under the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act of 1974, as amended. The purpose of this program is to support state and local delinquency prevention and intervention efforts and juvenile justice system improvements through a range of administration, compliance and program activities including those that address juvenile justice issues for Native American Indian tribes.
The Arkansas Department of Human Services Division of Youth Services (DYS) will use FY 14 Title II Formula Grants to enhance efforts to effect systemic change. DYS will continue to provide effective community-based prevention, diversion and intervention programs; supervision and effective treatment; operate safe and secure juvenile correctional facilities; and provide leadership for coordination, collaboration and improvement of the Arkansas juvenile justice system in accordance with the State's 2012-21014 Three Year Plan. DYS's activities include: disseminating grant funds; implementing the DMC Reduction Cycle in three additional sites around the State; providing training for law enforcement agencies, stakeholders and the judiciary on compliance monitoring; and implementing system improvement activities, including, but not limited to, identifying suitable diversion programming, detention alternatives and reentry initiatives that allow youth to remain close to home where community programming can promote accountability.
