The Formula Grants Program is authorized under the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act of 1974, as amended. The purpose of this program is to support state and local delinquency prevention and intervention efforts and juvenile justice system improvements through a range of administration, compliance and program activities including those that address juvenile justice issues for Native American Indian tribes.
The Missouri Department of Public Safety will utilize FY 2014 Title II Formula Grant funds to continue the expansion of the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI), expanding services for girls in the juvenile justice system, ensuring compliance with the core requirements of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA); and reducing disproportionate minority contact. The following program areas have been designated to further these goals: (2) Alternatives to Detention; (6) Compliance Monitoring; (10) Disproportionate Minority Contact; and (13) Gender Specific Services. All other funding will be used for planning and administration, and to support Missouri's State Advisory Group activities. NCA/NCF
