FY 2013 Title II Formula Grants Program
Note:
This awardee has received supplemental funding. This award detail page includes information about both the original award and supplemental awards.
The Formula Grants Program is authorized under the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act of 1974, as amended. The purpose of this program is to support state and local delinquency prevention and intervention efforts and juvenile justice system improvements through a range of administration, compliance and program activities including those that address juvenile justice issues for Native American Indian tribes.
The Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth (TCCY) will use FY14 Formula grant funds to address various aspects of juvenile delinquency in the state, including an analysis of juvenile crime to determine where to direct intervention strategies. TCCY aims to direct funding resources to programs and projects that focus on prevention and intervention services for at-risk youth as well as those involved in the juvenile justice system. The service population includes youth, 18 years and younger.
TCCY believes early prevention and intervention methods can assist in deterring youth from ending up in the criminal justice system. TCCY's goal is to reduce juvenile delinquency in Tennessee through the following objectives: fund at least four projects to address juvenile delinquency and reduce delinquency by five percent by 2016. Proposed projects include gender specific programs, system improvement programs and Disproportionate Minority Contact.
