Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2013, $800,000)
Under the National Juvenile Justice Data Analysis Program, OJJDP will establish a central, primary source to conduct statistical data analyses and disseminate juvenile justice data to the public.
This project will develop current information that supports a wide range of needs and to disseminate information in a range of formats and technical skill levels. The proposed project will continue to address OJJDP's information needs in a cost-efficient manner, taking advantage of existing databases to produce empirical information on a range of topics and disseminating this information to diverse audiences in a variety of formats. The project will:
1. Maintain the Statistical Briefing Book update/expand the Statistical Briefing Book (SBB) and its Easy Access family of data analysis tools,
2. Develop new online data analysis tools (e.g., for OJJDP's Census of Juveniles on Probation),
3. Develop new SBB modules (e.g., for OJJDP's Juvenile Residential Facility Census and probation data collections),
4. Develop user-friendly tutorials/guides to help users navigate the SBB,
5. Prepare publications and promote the project; including conducting original research, producing publications, and promoting the project at conferences,
6. Service information requests;respond to OJJDP and non-OJJDP information requests,
7. Consult with OJJDP on data collection, management, and use; work with OJJDP and its partners through working group meetings and collaborative projects.
