Supporting Heroes in mental health Foundational Training (SHIFT)

This program is funded under the authority of the Providing Resources, Officers, and Technology to Eradicate Cyber Threats to Our Children Act of 2008, (42 U.S.C. Section 17611)('the PROTECT Our Children Act of 2008'). The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) National Training Program provides training to ICAC task forces and affiliated federal, state, and local law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies in the areas of investigation, forensics, prosecution, community outreach, and capacity building.

The Innocent Justice Foundation (TIJF) will implement officer wellness training for the ICAC Task Force Program. The training will assist task force members and police agency command staff manage and address the impact of repeated exposure to child sexual abuse images and materials. The focus will be on promoting officer mental health and well-being. During this continuation project period, TIJF will work to expand the recently revised Individual, Case Study and Managerial trainings for ICAC task force members and other exposed individuals; provide additional Judicial training for judges and court personnel; and conduct specialized Mental Health Professional outreach, education and mentoring.

The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) National Training Program provides training to ICAC task forces and affiliated federal, state, and local law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies in the areas of investigation, forensics, prosecution, community outreach, and capacity building. The Innocent Justice Foundation (TIJF) will implement officer wellness training for the ICAC Task Force Program. The training will assist task force members and police agency command staff understand, manage and address the impact of repeated exposure to child sexual abuse images (CSAI) and materials. The focus will be on promoting officer mental health and well-being. During this continuation project period, TIJF will provide eight Individual, Case Study and Managerial trainings for ICAC task force members and other exposed individuals; provide three regional trainings for judges and judicial staff regarding the impact of exposure to CSAI; conduct specialized mental health professional outreach, education and mentoring; and initiate a Leadership Initiative to educate law enforcement chief executive officers on officer wellness in ICAC task force programs.
