Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2013, $325,000)

The purpose of the project is to implement the Gang Resistance Education and Training Program (G.R.E.A.T.) throughout the Southeast Region of the United States. This project will be used to continue implementing the G.R.E.A.T. program in the Southern Region of the United States by hosting and conducting G.R.E.A.T. Officer Trainings, G.R.E.A.T. Families Trainings and G.R.E.A.T. Officer In-services annually. The overall goal of this project is to continue implementing the G.R.E.A.T. program regionally which is an effective, evidence based life-skills program taught by criminal justice professional to elementary and middle school students. The specific targeted population of this project will include: Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico.
