Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2013, $1,000,000)

The primary goal of the Family Drug Court TTA Program is to provide TTA to family drug court practitioners to develop, maintain, and enhance family drug courts. The objectives are to assess and address the national TTA needs of family drug courts and to recommend a delivery strategy to OJJDP; to develop, implement, and enhance TTA materials and activities; to provide TTA to family drug courts that will build capacity, assess needs, initiate strategic planning, implement appropriate program improvements, evaluate program performance, and help sustain programs; and to provide family drug courts with local or regional training that will enhance their knowledge and skills.

The Center for Children and Family Futures (CCFF) intends to leverage it's existing
infrastructure, staff capacity and knowledge, and its extensive inventory of policy and practice resources to deliver the highest quality and cost-efficient Family Drug Court (FDC)Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Program. Since 2009, CCFF has implemented an innovative and efficient FDC TTA Program for OJJDP. CCFF assessed the needs of FDCs, designed and implemented an FDC web-based Learning Academy and a Peer Learning Court program, provided high-quality TTA to more than 14,000 FDC professionals across the country and published "Guidance to States: Developing Family Drug Court Guidelines". These accomplishments are the foundation for the proposed National FDC TTA program's design and implementation approach. CCFF's goals for providing TTA to FDC practitioners through the proposed FDC TTA Program emphasize providing FDCs with a comprehensive package of FDC-specific tools and resources that meet their developmental and improvement needs. CCFF will support the expansion of FDCs' scale (number of families served) and scope (comprehensiveness of services) to improve outcomes for children and families.
